Introduction
After the ImageNet Image Classification Competition in 2012, deep learning began to gain prominence.
This was the beginning of what is now known as the third AI boom. Deep learning is not just limited to image recognition tasks; it is also expanding into real-world applications, with overwhelming accuracy over traditional methods for various tasks such as natural language processing and speech recognition.
In recent years, enterprises are scrambling to develop the use of AI. However, AI development faces two major problems. They are
- Data Collection Issues
- Privacy issues involving data
These are two things. There is a limit to the amount of data each company can collect, which greatly affects the accuracy of the model. So, if each company brings its own data and collaborates on model development, the accuracy of the models will improve. However, from the point of view of data protection, each company does not want to disclose its data to other companies. This is especially true for companies that handle personal information.
Google announced a learning framework called Federate Learning (FL) in 2017. This is a learning method that solves the problems mentioned above.FL has the potential to make a significant contribution to AI model development in the future. This article will take you through the basics of FL and its applications.
